Zella Q. Dennis Cole was taken by the hand by the Lord on Nov. 28, 2013, at the age of 96. She was born in Laclede County, MO, to Allen and Cora Dennis. Zella was raised in Lyons, NE, moving to Indianapolis, IN at age 23, to join her new husband, Robert Cole, in a marriage that lasted 71 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea, age 7, husband Robert, two brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Sharon Cole of Prescott, AZ, three grandchildren, Angela Whitesell of Troy, NC, Stacy Ransom of Skull Valley, AZ, and Kelly McCluskey of Redondo Beach, CA, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a spot welder during WWII to aid the war effort. Zella moved to the Valley of the Sun in 1967. She started a partnership in Executive Answering Service and Cole Industrial Equipment Corp., retiring in 1982. She was very active in her church for many years singing in the choir and conducting the prayer chain. She loved to dance to big band music and did so most of her life. In her early years, she danced to Lawrence Welk live, before he became famous, all around Nebraska and South Dakota. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, with services on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Spirit of Hope Methodist Church, 14403 N. 75th Ave., Peoria, AZ 85381. Interment will take place at Resthaven Park Cemetery after the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Spirit of Hope Methodist Church in Zella’s name.
