William C. Slemons, Jr., 92, beloved husband for sixty years and best friend of Helen (Carr) Slemons passed away surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved on July 17, 2014 at his home at Royal Oaks, Sun city, Arizona, after a short illness. Bill was born on June 5, 1922 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was the only child of William C. Slemons and Mabel Hodges Slemons. Bill graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School in 1958. Bill served in World War II in the 6th Bombardment Squadron of the Army of the United States. Bill practiced dentistry for most of his career at hospitals in Indiana and practiced in public health clinics in Virginia and Guam. In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by his four children, daughters Kathy (Michael Quinn), Sarah (Ken Shaw) and Rachel (Todd Vecchio) and son, Jonathan, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, William Donald. A memorial service will be held in Indiana.
