William Joseph Burke

William (Bill) Joseph Burke passed away December 14, 2016 in Sun City, Arizona following a brief illness. A funeral mass will be held at St Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Sun City on Tuesday, December 20 at 10:00 AM with a celebration of life reception at Palmbrook Country Club immediately following. Bill was born in Davenport, Iowa on March 30, 1940. He attended St. Joseph high school in DeWitt, Iowa followed by St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. He is survived by his mother, Mona Powers of Sun City, Arizona; two daughters, Julie Burke and Christine (Chuck) Woods both of Ankeny Iowa; grandchildren Nate, Tiffani, Nic and Tyler Woods; great-grandchildren Carson and Gavyn; a brother, Bob (Sylvia) Burke of Urbandale, Iowa; nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Arthur Burke and his former wife Sara Burke who was the mother of his two children. Bill had a love of golf, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He enjoyed retirement in Sun City, Arizona where he met and shared his life with Carol Karstens. Bill will be missed by all who knew him.
