William (Bill) Frederick Herr, of Glendale, Arizona passed away on August 22 at the age of 83. Born in 1932 to Arthur and Ruth Herr of Cleveland, OH. After graduating from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, he served three years with The United States Air Force and two years with the Air Force Reserves. Bill began his writing career with Rockwell International in Columbus, Ohio as a technical writer. After moving to Phoenix in 1959, he continued his career as an Editor with Arizona Public Service and retired thirty years later as Director of Communication. During his career, he was instrumental in making the International Association of Business Communicators an international organization, and was one of the first people to be accredited by that organization. He received countless awards and executive appointments by IABC and other organizations. His constant passion for music was highlighted by twenty years playing bass with a country and western band The Barb Wire Boys. Bill is survived by his wife Dora, sister Marta Sigmon, his five children Benn (Lynn) Herr, Susan (Rick) Gale, Max (Efeida) Herr, Jack (Lorraine) Herr, Lilia (Alex) Corona, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 North 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351.
