William (Willie) Dunahay, 71, of Peoria, Arizona passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Born in Middletown, Ohio he was the son of the late Orville and Annabelle Dunahay. He is survived by his wife, Donna of 32 years, sons, William Scott Dunahay of Ottawa, Ohio, Steven Dunahay of Lima, Ohio, and daughter Shelly Long of Lima, Ohio. Stepchildren Craig Campbell of Phoenix, Arizona, Michele Campbell of Glendale, Arizona and Laurie Campbell of Ft. Meyers, Florida. Seven grand children, one step grandchild, four great grand children and one step grandchild, and his sister Helen Thomas of Elida, Ohio. William served in the Navy for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1965. He worked for the Elida Local School district for 29 years, he retired in December of 2007. He and Donna moved to Arizona in 2008. Willie loved living in Arizona. They joined the American Legion Post 62 where Willie enjoyed volunteering for bingo and in the kitchen whenever he was needed. He loved playing darts and shuffle board. He organized and ran the shuffle board tournaments weekly. He was awarded the American Legion Post 62 Volunteer of the Year on April 27, 2014. He also served on the E-Board for one year. He loved watching all of the Ohio State sports teams and was a great fan of the Diamond Backs and Cardinals in Arizona. Visitation will be 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center followed by graveside services at 11:00 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona.
