W.C. "Cal" Owens, 86, longtime resident of the valley died March 6, 2012 after a short illness. Born Oct. 12, 1925 in Sweetwater, TX. He spent some of his childhood in Frankell, TX before moving to Phoenix in the mid 1930's. He attended Alhambra Grade School and Phoenix Union High School. He was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force during World War II. After the war he worked as a firefighter in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He was an employee for Dye Carbonic in Phoenix for many years. He also co-owned Colorwest, a color separation business in San Diego. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Virginia. Sons Nick Owens of Tonopah, Mike (Laurie) Owens of Phoenix, Terry Owens of Phoenix, John (Sandy) Owens of Cottonwood, Greg (Tammy) Owens of Taylor and Stepson Andy Lenz of Sun City; eleven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Mar. 16, 2012 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
