Warren Fitzgerald, 95, of Sun City, passed away on September 3, 2018. He was born on April 1, 1923 in Manitowoc, WI to Simon and Nellie Fitzgerald, the third of six children. He was raised on a farm in Manitowoc County in the community of Osman. He attended Lincoln High School in Manitowoc and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1949 with a Degree in Agriculture. He worked with the Soil Conservation Service for 33 years, retiring as State Conservationist for Illinois in 1982.
He and his wife, Rita, moved to Sun City in 1988.
Warren served in the 11th Armored Division under General Patton in WW II, was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart.
They were avid golfers for many years and Warren golfed in the Willowbrook Men’s League.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rita; two sons, Mark (Sharon), Urbana, IL and Scott, Overland Park, KS; and a daughter, Ann, Glendale, AZ. Also survived by 6 grandchildren: Ryan, Connor, Meghan, Katy and Eliza Fitzgerald and Chase Thortsen.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Dr., Sun City, AZ.
Interment will be at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society www.st.vincentdepaul.net or to Hospice of the Valley www.hov.org
