89, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away suddenly yet peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2012. She was born in 1922 in Glendale, Arizona to parents Lack and Elma Williams. She was married to her beloved husband, John Shawver for 67 years. She graduated from Glendale High School and attended Phoenix Community College prior to working at Goodyear Aircraft as a secretary where she met John. Wanda will be remembered fondly as a loving and sweet mother, wife and friend. She took much pride in her family and community volunteer work. She loved her time spent with her daughter, Patti, and her many activities, including Girl Scouts and Phoenix Honors Cotillion. In addition, she shared her heart for the Lord by teaching Sunday School for many years. Wanda is preceeded in death by her parents, brother Donald T. Williams and her husband, John Shawver. She is survived by her daughter Patti Shawver Tucker, son–in-law Mark Tucker and granddaughter Johnna Tucker. The family would like to thank her loving caregiver Carolyn McNeil for taking such tremendous care of Wanda in this past year. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 1st, at 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Valley Church, 1500 W. Maryland Ave., Phoenix, AZ. The family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Desert Southwest Chapter, 1028 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85006.
