Wanda Littlejohn Parkman went to be with the Lord, March 28, 2011, in Glendale, Arizona. She was 66 years old. She was born in Wynne, Arkansas on June 25, 1944 and lived most of her life in Mississippi and Arizona. Parkman was as an Educator and School Librarian. She was a graduate of Mississippi College where she earned both a bachelors and master’s degree in Education. She taught social studies for Jackson Public Schools at Jim Hill High School and Callaway High School. During her tenure with Jackson Public Schools, she was selected as Star Teacher one year at Jim Hill. As a teenager, Mrs. Parkman lived briefly in Arizona and never forgot the warm winter days and the swaying palm trees. In 1993, she moved to Arizona, thus fulfilling a lifelong dream of returning. Mrs. Parkman was a School Librarian for the Peoria Unified School District at both Alta Loma School and Pioneer Elementary. She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, Howard Parkman of Sun City, Arizona and her three children, Atley of Phoenix, Cathy Tyson of Counce, Tennessee and Janet Ackerman of Laredo, Texas. She has three grandchildren who will miss her as well, Joey Tyson, John Howard Tyson and Mary Catherine Ackerman. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. James H. Littlejohn of Memphis, Tennessee and Sun City, Arizona; her sister Deborah Littlejohn of Peoria, Arizona and Daniel (Danny) Littlejohn of Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be 8:00 a.m.- 9:30 a.m. with funeral services at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2011 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, Arizona. Interment to follow at Phoenix Memorial Park Cemetery.
