Vonnie Hughes

Vonnie Hughes passed away on November 4, 2016 in Peoria, AZ with her husband of 58 years, Mike Hughes, and her son, Mark Hughes, at her side. She leaves behind her three sons and their wives Jon and Sheila Hughes, Mark and Peggi Hughes, Tim and Kathleen Hughes and a daughter and her husband Julie and Rocky Luna. She also leaves thirteen grandchildren whom she loved dearly – Megan, Katie and Kerrie Hughes; Logan and Mallory Hughes; Owen, Emily and Max Hughes and Alexis, Lindsay, Abby, Natalie and Ainsley Krehbiel and four step grandchildren whom she embraced as her own – Austin and Shane Paeper and Luke and Dylan Luna. Vonnie was born on April 9, 1937 in Lakota, ND to Bertrum and Stella Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents and her family Dodo Pierce, Jim Pierce, Gene Chavez and Bobbie Scofield. Vonnie was a beautiful, fiercely strong German who loved her husband and family tremendously. She raised a family, earned a nursing degree at the age of 42 and helped her husband in a successful business career. Vonnie had several health issues and yet remained the heart of her family. She will be terribly missed, but her family is grateful she is at peace and with her Lord. A funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church 9728 W. Palmeras Drive in Sun City, AZ on Wednesday November 9th at 10am. Burial will be in Omaha, NE at a later date. The family will direct memorials.
