Virginia Mae Melang, 86 of Sun City, AZ formerly of Wausau, WI passed away on October 3, 2018.
Virginia was born in Wausau Wisconsin to Joseph and Regina Kolbeck on November 25, 1931.
Gini graduated from Saint Mary Springs Academy. On July 28th of 1951 she married Robert Melang at the Church of Saint Catherine Cook County, Illinois.
Gini enjoyed being a Mom and homemaker. She was a talented artist in multiple mediums.
Paint, Pottery, she made beautiful hand decorated eggs for many of her friends and family. I can't even think of everything artsy my Mom didn't try, at least once.
Paintings have graced many of the walls in our homes and offices. In her younger years she was involved in the Wisconsin Valley Art Association of Marathon County and assisted in the Wausau Art Festival for many years by housing young artists in her home during the show. The gardens at her homes in Wausau and later in Sun City Arizona were smattered with colorful beauty. Flowers, shrubs, plants of all types graced the space around her homes.
Wisconsin had flowers and shrubs while Arizona had flowering cactus, fruit trees, and
other drought resistant plants. And we can't forget to mention her love of cats. From
Tinkerbell at 906 North Third Avenue to her last cat Tyson in Sun City. Her love for all
animals could always be seen. Growing up Gini had pet ducks, Anthony and Cleopatria.
After her marriage the family housed birds, cats, Myrtle the turtle and the squirrel she fed by hand in the back yard. Natural beauty always made her smile.
Virginia is survived by her daughters Katherine (Scott) Pieper of Merrill, Wisconsin
and Deborah Melang of Sun City, Arizona, a sister in law Ruth (Carl) Stang of Appleton,
Wisconsin along with nieces, nephews and very special close friends.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Bob and her son Michael.
A private family service will be held at the Menke Funeral Home Chapel, 12420 North 103rd Avenue, Sun City, AZ. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Sun Choice Rehabilitation of Sun City West for the compassionate care given her during her lengthy stay. The staff works tirelessly to bring the best of care to all the patients living there. Gini was more than a patient, she was family and the staff grew to love her.
