Vincent Shally

Vincent William Shally, 91 of Sun City, passed away January 11, 2009. He was born August 23, 1917 to Patrick and Annie McWalters Shally, Mr. Shally served as a Captain during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He received his B.S. in Forestry from U.C. Berkeley and his Master's Degree from Harvard University. He was the State Soil Conservationist for the State of South Dakota and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, the Bell Metal Club, and the Knights of Columbus, Council #779, Huron, S.D. Vincent Shally is survived by his wife Helen; children Kevin Shally, Timothy Laura Shally, Laurie Greg Parker; step-children Jon Kalinowski, Katherine Walter Taff, Patricia Kalin; and two grandchildren, Katy and Amy Jane. Visitation will be Monday January 19, 2009 beginning at 9:00 A.M. with Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center 12420 N. 103rd Ave. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be at St. Martins Cemetery, Huron, SD.
