Veronica Bender

Veronica “Ronnie” Bender passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 23, 2014. She was born in Fairview, Ohio on May 11, 1920 to Herman and Florence Ecker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Louis Bender, son Marc Fairburn, brother Herbert Ecker, and brother Robert Ecker. She dedicated her life to teaching and the mentoring of others. She was raised in Syracuse, New York where she then attended and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Syracuse University. She then began her life long career of teaching students all over the Southwest. She continued her education receiving a Master’s Degree from the University of New Mexico. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was the center point to the family who brought strength to us all. She is survived by her daughter in law, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her Celebration of Life will take place on October 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center-Reception Center, 10307 W. Coggins Dr., Sun City. Graveside services will be held privately at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
