Vincent Allen Schumaker, a beloved brother, dedicated soldier, and passionate adventurer, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Surprise, Arizona. Born on October 22, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, Vincent lived a life marked by service to his country and an unwavering love for the great outdoors.
A proud veteran of the United States Army who achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Three (CW3), Vincent devoted over two decades to military service. His commitment to duty was matched only by his deep sense of honor and integrity. He served with distinction during pivotal moments in history and earned the respect and admiration of those who had the privilege to serve alongside him.
After retiring from active duty, Vincent found joy in exploring nature through geocaching—a hobby that combined his love for adventure with technology. He reveled in discovering hidden treasures across landscapes both familiar and new. Biking also brought him immense happiness; he could often be seen pedaling along scenic trails or sharing laughter with friends as they explored together.
Vincent's heart held a special place for family. He is survived by his brothers Jeffrey and Mark—his steadfast companions throughout life's journey—and their shared memories will forever echo within them. Though he faced profound loss when his late wife Sun Ok Schumaker passed away before him, their bond remained unbreakable even beyond her departure from this world.
As we remember Vincent Allen Schumaker today—his infectious smile that lit up every room he entered; his adventurous spirit that inspired others; and above all else—the kindness he extended to everyone around him—we celebrate a life well-lived. His legacy will continue through those whose lives were touched by his warmth and generosity.
In honoring Vincent’s memory, let us carry forward the lessons he imparted: cherish your loved ones fiercely; embrace each day as an opportunity for exploration; find joy in simple pleasures like biking down winding paths or uncovering hidden gems amidst nature’s beauty. He may have departed from our sight but remains forever etched into our hearts—a guiding star illuminating our way forward until we meet again.
