Velma L. (Fox) Moore 87, passed peacefully into her heavenly home on July 16, 2018. Born to Thomas F. and Annabel (Personett) Fox in Hampton, Iowa, she attended Hampton High School and married Robert (Bob) D. Moore in 1948. The two shared an incredible life of love for nearly 68 years. She is survived by three children – Sue (Chuck) Haney, Sandy Hudson, Mike (Mickey) Moore; and sister-in-law Gerry Robinson of Atlantic, Iowa. Velma was blessed with seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She began her banking career at the First National Bank of Hampton and after moving to Arizona in 1966 continued at Valley National Bank, retiring as an officer from Bank One in 1992. Velma will always be remembered by her family as a patient, loving spouse, devoted mother, and kind and fun-loving sister, grandmother and aunt who put her family first. She was an avid reader and card player, crossword and jigsaw puzzle fan, famous for sending out greeting cards to family and friends and loved the Arizona heat. She cherished life and loved people unconditionally. Her children adored her for her honesty, faithfulness, work ethic, fun adventures, and always going the extra mile for them. She was humble and hardworking and cherished her family, willingly making many personal sacrifices for them. Over the years through work and other activities, Velma developed many special friendships. Family meant everything to her, and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, boating, fishing and traveling with Bob across the western states by Goldwing and motor home following their favorite ASU Sun Devils football team. Many wonderful loving memories remain with all of us. Her husband, Bob, sisters Fay Dovey and Margaret Rodgers and brother Harold Als precede her in death. The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff at Lookout Mountain Assisted Living and Hospice of the Valley for the loving care Velma received. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lookout Mountain Assisted Living or Hospice of the Valley. A Celebration of her Life is planned for Saturday, October 13, at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, Sun City Room, at 2:00 pm.
