Valerie Hodgden

Valerie L. Hodgden, 88, of Peoria, Arizona passed away June 18, 2019. Valerie was born in Weyauwega, Wisconsin to Erich and Lillian Schmoldt. She married Robert L. Hodgden January 1st, 1952 in Fremont Wisconsin, they were married 63 years. An Arizona resident since 1980, she was a member of Apostles Lutheran Church. She lived a life of faith and was very involved with LWML. She really enjoyed baking and cooking. She was always ready to go anywhere! She handed down her love of swimming and ice cream to her family. Valerie loved her family with all her heart and soul. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on April 16, 2014. She also was preceded in death by her infant son Thomas and brothers Ronald (Betty), Arden, Nolan and Daniel Schmoldt, sisters-in-law Betty (Ole) Olson, Audrey (Jerry) Fraedrich. She is survived by children Kathryn (Richard) Bleier Big Falls, WI, Kenneth (Mary) Hodgden, Seymour WI, Russell (Lynn) Hodgden, Glendale, AZ, Rhonda (Thomas) Brown, LaPorte, IN; 9 grandchildren: Heather (Tim) Reinemann, Heidi (Jared) Dalberg, Holly (Roger) Tice, Kaitlin Hodgden, Lisa Hodgden, Heather (Rev. Philip) Robarge, Jeff (Sarah) Hughes, Ericka (Ryan) Brockhaus and Joshua Fronczak; 4 great grandchildren: Laura (Rev. Ryan) Drevlow, Kaitlyn Robarge, Tyson Robarge, Alexander Brockhaus. 4 great-great grandchildren: Gracelynn, Joy, Moses and Esther Drevlow. Valerie is also survived by her brother Roger (Marion) Schmoldt, sister Dorothy (Vern) Otto, sisters-in-law, Betty Schmoldt and Kathleen Schmoldt. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. with visitation at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday June 25, 2019, at Apostles Lutheran Church, 7020 W. Cactus Rd., Peoria, Arizona. Interment to follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers the family of Valerie Hodgden suggest memorials to Apostles Lutheran Church. Special thank you to Valerie’s caregivers at The Inn at Amethyst and Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion shown her.
