Thomas Wright

Thomas Morris Wright, 89, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Braintree, MA passed away on March 5, 2016. Tom was born in Cambridge, MA on May 10, 1926. Tom graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, MA and served in the Naval Headquarters during World War II in New York. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. Tom worked part-time for the Post Office in South Boston for many years while also working as an Accountant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He retired as Assistant Director of Accounting for the Department of Public Works for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Tom ran a district campaign for President John Kennedy in Boston, MA and attended his presidential inauguration. Thomas married Mary (McDermott) Wright on May 2, 1964 and they joyfully celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 2, 2014. They moved to Arizona in November 2013 and were devout parishioners of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Sun City, AZ. Tom recited prayers every morning and was an avid Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins fan. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen (Morris) Wright of Somerville, MA, and his brother Walter of Needham, MA. Tom is survived by his only child, Sean T. Wright and his wife Wen-ying (Hsieh) Wright of Sun City, AZ. He is the beloved grandfather of two grandchildren, Christine A. Wright and James S. Wright of Sun City. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Wright of Florida. Tom’s mother died when he was only 2 so he lived with his mother’s sister Ellen Morris and her children Gertrude, Lillian, Rita, and Fred all of whom are deceased. Tom was blessed with many nieces and nephews and he is the godfather of Walter A. Wright of MA and James S. Wright of AZ. Visiting hours will be held from 2PM to 4PM with a rosary recital from 4PM to 4:30PM on Wednesday, March 16 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center located at 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Sun City, AZ 85351. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 17 at 10AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church located at 9728 W. Palmeras Drive Sun City AZ 85373 with burial following at Sunland Cemetery located at 15826 W. Del Webb Blvd Sun City AZ 85351.
