The Reverend Frank Paul Simlik, 88, of Sun City, Arizona passed away April 6, 2015. Son of Paul and Catherine (Mikeska) Simlik, he was born April 13, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from St. Agnes of Bohemia Elementary School. He attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary and graduated in April, 1945. He entered the Dominican Order and completed his theological studies at St. Thomas Aquinas University in Rome where he was ordained as a priest on February 14, 1954. Father Frank taught at the Dominican House of Studies in River Forest and Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois. He came to the Diocese of Phoenix in October of 1973, and became a priest of the diocese in May, 1982. He served as an associate pastor at St. Thomas Apostle in Phoenix and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Tempe. He was pastor of St. Joan of Arc in Phoenix and St. Joachim St. Anne Catholic Church in Sun City. On July 1, 2001, he retired and during his years of retirement he assisted at the various parishes in the Sun City area. Father Frank is survived by his sister, Sister Sigrid Simlik, OP of Sun City and cousins in the Chicago area. Visitation will be 1-5:00 p.m. with Rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at St. Joachim St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, also at St. Joachim St. Anne. Burial will follow in the priests’ plot at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
