Ted (Theodore) Christy

Ted (Theodore Ray) Christy passed away on April 20, 2022, after a hard fight with cancer. He was born on April 15, 1942, to Howard and Alma (Capshaw) Christy in Sullivan, Illinois. The family moved to Arizona when Ted was three, for his severe asthma. Ted graduated from Sunnyslope High School with a football scholarship to the University of Arizona. During college Ted married Peggy Latchem. They had two children, Tracey Leanne and Timothy Lane. After his graduation from the University of Arizona Ted returned to Sunnyslope High School as a teacher and a football coach. He retired in 1989 after 24 years of teaching. Ted loved to travel, fly fishing, wood working, golf, and dogs. One of his proudest achievements was build a two-story cabin in Pine, Arizona and restore a cottage in Prescott, Arizona, both were much enjoyed by his family and friends. In 1991 Ted married Linda Spitler-Menke and they traveled the world and enjoyed some amazing friends until his death. Ted is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Tracy, Son Tim, 6 grandchildren and a loving blended family. The family asks that donations to be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or Maggie’s Place, P.O. Box 1102, Phoenix, AZ 85001. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301.
