Sydney Saetre

December 31, 1969 — January 15, 2008

Dr. Sydney Alfred Saetre, of 10349 Talisman Road, Sun City, Arizona, died at Mayo Hospital, Sherman Hospice Home, in Phoenix, on January 15, 2008, at the age of 86. He was born July 23, 1921, at Henning, Minnesota, the son of Alfred and Ida Thoreson Saetre. He was educated in the Henning Public Schools graduating from high school in 1939. He attended Hamline University, in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1941-1942. He entered the United States Army in June, 1942, and served in the 25th Infantry Division through World War II, in the South Pacific theatre. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. He entered Northwestern College of Chiropractic now, Northwestern Health Sciences University, Bloomington, Minnesota in 1946. He completed his education and received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in the Fall of 1950. He practiced his profession in the State of Montana, in the cities of Butte, Glasgow, and Great Falls. He was honored as Montana Chiropractor of the Year by his fellow practitioners. He completed his professional career in Great Falls, retiring in 1987. He married Yvonne Hansen in Wells, Minnesota on March 24, 1951. Sydney and Yvonne moved to Sun City, Arizona, in 1990, living there until his death, spending summer months in the area of his boyhood home in Henning, Minnesota. Sydney is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne, and by his sisters, Josephine Johnson, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Clarice Espeland, of Henning, Minnesota, and his brothers, Warren Saetre and his wife, Margaret, of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Homer Saetre and his wife, Esther, of Battle Lake, Minnesota, and Roland Saetre and his wife, Janice of Vining, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father in 1936, his mother in 1982, and his older brother, Gaylord Saetre, in 1999. Sydney was a Mason and a member of the Shrine, Bagdad Temple, in Great Falls. He enlightened the lives of his immediate family, his many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, and a host of patients who looked to him for physical relief in the course of his practice. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church, in Sun City, led by the Reverend Barbara DuhlstineRobarge, a pastor of the congregation, and the Reverend David Saetre, a nephew of Sydney, of Ashland, Wisconsin. Menke Funeral & Cremation Center handled arrangements.
