Sue was born August 10, 1945 at Saint Ann’s Home for unwed mothers in Los Angeles, California. Eight days later God sent Joseph and Atala Isabel Ortega to the home to be her Mom and Dad. Sue lived in the Lincoln Heights area of Los Angeles until 1949 when the family moved to Monterey Park, California where she grew up. She attended Marian Catholic Elementary School and Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Montebello, California. Upon completion of High School Sue attended East Los Angeles College and then was employed by United California Bank where she worked in the real estate department. Sue met her future husband, John “Jack” Spreitzer, in Manhattan Beach, California in 1968. They were married that same year on December 28th at Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Montebello, California. When their first child was born Sue became a full time domestic engineer and mother. God blessed Sue and her husband Jack with three children: John, Michael and Katherine (Katie). She loved giving all of her children special birthday parties and taking them on adventures. Sue and Jack raised their children in Rowland Heights, California. Upon the retirement of her husband they moved to Arizona and enjoyed their retirement spending summers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She enjoyed staying on the shores of Lake Superior and the beauty of the Copper Country. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays. She would decorate her home to the nines, with beautiful crafts that she had made herself. Sue was a gifted and talented crafter and scrapbook designer. Her creative crafts and scrapbooks were very beautiful and enjoyed by many people. Sue had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the Saint Helen’s Choir. She was a member of Saint Helen’s Ladies of the Mystical Rose and enjoyed participating in all of their activities. She was blessed with ten beautiful grandchildren who she loved dearly. Spending time with her grandchildren was among one of the many things she loved to do. Sue enjoyed making their Halloween costumes and teaching them some of her many talents. She spent many hours teaching two of her granddaughters Taylor and Ashlyn the art of scrapbooking and sending them to sewing classes. On August 5, 2016 Our Lord called Sue to heaven after a lengthy illness. She is at His side singing with her beautiful voice in paradise. Sue is survived by her husband Jack, her children and their spouses: John, Michael (Amanda) and Katherine “Katie” (Jared) and ten grandchildren: Austin, Taylor, Ashlyn, Matthew, Timothy, Mason, Colten, Vincent, Taryn and Kathryn “Gracie” along with many nieces and nephews.
