Stanley A. Mills, 97, passed away October 17, 2018. Mr. Mills was born in Yonkers, NY on March 27, 1921. He attended local schools and graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelors degree in 1949 and Masters degree from St. Louis University.
During WWII he flew combat missions as a Bombardier-Navigator with the 8th Air Force in Europe during 1944 completing a tour of 35 missions with his last being January 2, 1945. He returned to the States became a flying instructor and was discharged in October 1945 as a First Lieutenant. He remained in the Air Force Reserve until his retirement as a Major in 1981. He was an incredible WWII hero and a proud and courageous veteran.
From 1972 Mr. Mills was a Federal Inspection Inspector at Kennedy Airport in New York retiring in 1983. He continued to live in Yonkers until June 2001 when he relocated to Sun City, Arizona where he resided until his death.
Mr. Mills was a member of St. Clement of Rome parish in Sun City. He also was a member of the Air Force Association, the American Legion, the Kosciuszko Foundation, and Manhattan College Alumni Association.
He is survived by a nephew Gregory and his wife Cindy and their son Calvin, and two aunts in Poland. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2018 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Private interment was at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City, Arizona.
