Shirley Ann DeShields Jones Harvey, 76, left her earthly home on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Shirley was the daughter of the late Nathaniel P. DeShields, Sr., and Mary Stevenson DeShields. She was a 1958 graduate of the former Worcester High School, Newark, MD. She received a B.A. Degree in Business Administration from Stockton State College, Pomona, NJ. In addition, she attended McClaugh Modeling School. Shirley began her career as a Secretary in Baltimore, MD before moving to Atlantic City, NJ where she worked at Shulton Industries, N.A.F.E.C. and the Atlantic County Superior Court. In 1989, she moved to Arizona where she retired from Maricopa County Justice Courts, Phoenix, AZ. Shirley is survived by one son, Donald C. Jones and his wife Sandy of Surprise, AZ; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Troy; two brothers: John “Harry” DeShields of Pompano Beach, FL and Albert L. DeShields of San Angelo, TX; three sisters: Barbara McCoy of Salisbury, MD, Martha DeShields of Atlantic City, NJ and Catherine “Kate” Handy of Laurel, DE and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by: a son, Dion; two brothers, Linwood Stevenson and Nathaniel “Jack” DeShields, Jr. (her twin); two sisters, Alfonsie D. Purnell and Mary Copeland. Homegoing services will be Friday, September 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, Sun City, AZ.
