Sara "Sally" Eyler

July 11, 1930 — March 16, 2019

On March 16th, 2019 Sara Isabelle Eyler, a beautiful, loving and extraordinary mother passed away at age 88. Sara “Sally” Eyler was born on July 11th, 1930 to Charles Spademan and Grace Grossnor in Lorain, Ohio. After graduating with Honors from Lorain High School, Sally attended Ohio University where she earned her teaching degree. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and during her final year served as President. While she was at Ohio U, she met the love of her life, Bill Eyler. In her own words as soon as she met him she knew he was IT. Bill and Sally were married after her senior year of college, and were married 66 years. Sally taught 6th grade in Lorain, and then put her teaching career on hold to raise her three wonderful children who were the light of her life except for a few of those teen-age years. She returned to teaching and found her passion in teaching kindergarten at Silver Spur elementary school in Palos Verdes, Ca. She was an accomplished pianist and brought music to the classroom. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts and St Francis Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir. In 1987 Sally and Bill moved to Sun City West to enjoy retirement. Sally was an active member of the Advent Episcopal Church, and enjoyed many years singing in the choir as well as volunteering in various charities through the church. She was a member of the Church’s Advent History and Preservation Ministry committee and was proud to have been a part of getting the book about the church published. She also volunteered at the Sun City West thrift shop and played piano at many various functions. She is survived by her son Scott Eyler of Port Huenme , Ca; Daughters Beth Eyler-Wong of Surprise, Az and Ann Fagin of Elk Grove, CA; grandchildren Lucas Fagin of Elk Grove, CA and Leilani Wong, of Quebec, Canada; cousin Joan Swee of Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Dick and Charlie; her daughter in-law Judy Eyler and her husband Bill Eyler of 66 years who just recently passed away on Jan 5th. We hope Bill and Sally are reunited and enjoying each other’s company once again. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request donations made to the Church of the Advent Episcopal, Sun City West.
