Samuel Brown Jr.

Samuel K. Brown Jr., 82, passed peacefully with his wife by his side on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. He was born in Lynn, MA on June 18, 1934 to the late Samuel K. Brown Sr. and Hilda M. Nottingham. After graduating from Saugus High School in 1952, he apprenticed as a Tool and Die Maker at the General Electric (GE) advancing to Planner, authoring assembly manuals for jet engines such as the J-79 for the F-4 Phantom and the TF-34 for the A-10 Thunderbolt. Retiring in 1989 after 37 years of service, he and his wife Susan spent summers in NH and winters in AZ. He served in leadership roles in both the GE Good Neighbor Fund and the GE NH Association of Retirees. He was also an active member of the New England Club of Sun City. Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Susan Brown of Peoria; son, Col (AF Retired) Stephen Brown and his wife, Laylani Brown of Alexandria, VA as well as three grandchildren, two great children and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Peter Brown of Lynn, MA. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017, from 4-7 pm at the Menke Funeral Home, 12420 North 103rd Avenue, Sun City, AZ 85351.
