Salvatore Cilani, age 86, died of natural causes on September 15, 2019 in Peoria, Arizona. Sal is survived by his wife, Carmela, his two sons, Mark and Michael, his two step-daughters, Jane and Barbara, eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Salvatore was born on March 18, 1933 in Solvay, New York. He served in the Navy for four years after high school. Next he began a career with American Airlines and Sky Chefs, and this work moved him to Boston, Massachusetts. There he met his wife, Carmela, and they were married in 1974. Shortly thereafter, his work transferred him to Arizona, where they have resided since.
After retiring from Sky Chefs, Sal took a job as Sergeant At Arms for the Arizona State House of Representatives. He served there for 10 years before retiring for good. In his retirement, Sal enjoyed working on his Cadillac and playing with his grandchildren.
A ceremony will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 1:30 pm at the National Cemetery of Arizona: 23029 Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony at The Mission at Agua Fria: 8880 N 107th Ave., Peoria, AZ 85345.
