Ruth Martin

Ruth Eby Martin, 98, of Sun City, passed away July 7, 2012. She was born at Dwyer, New Mexico into a ranching family. Ruth and her late husband, Wesley, were married for 30 years living and raising their family first in Santa Rita and later on their ranch along the Mimbres River in New Mexico. Mrs. Martin earned a Master of Science degree from New Mexico Western College and was an elementary teacher, supervisor and principal for 37 years. She moved to Arizona in 1976 and was a member of the Church of the Palms, a charter member of the Sun City Chapter No. 66 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Matron of New Horizon Court Order of the Amaranth, a member of AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma and a founding member of the Sun City C.A.R.S. Club. She led tours for AARP, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and served her HOA in Sun City. Ruth never turned down a friend or organization in need. She is survived by her sons James W. Martin (Doris) and Roy Lee Eby, and granddaughters Robyn and Dawn Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley C. Martin, baby daughter Rosalie and son Thomas C. Martin. Services will be held at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 811 N. Gold Ave., in Deming, New Mexico at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 followed by interment at Mountain View Cemetery.
