Robert Howard Peterson, 85, of Sun City passed away Dec. 3, 2008. Born June 10, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska, he was a graduate of South High School in 1941 at the age of 18. He attended the University of Omaha in 1942 then to University of Minnesota until 1944 when he entered the Air Corps at Buckley Field, after 2 months then to Lowery Field Denver Bomb sight and Autopilot School for 6 months. In 1945 he went to San Angelo, TX to work on bomb sights and taught bombing to pilots, then to Tokyo, Japan at the end of 1945 at the time of the surrender of Japan. He worked an office job with the Japanese, returning home May of 1946 and married Frankie Alice Peterson on May 26th of that year. He worked in Nebraska then moved to Southern California to work as a Mechanical Engineer in 1952. He worked for Disney, Catalina, and movies, then for the government on equipment for the flight to the moon. Bob was a member of VASA Scandinavian Lodge and the Sun City Scandinavian Lodge. Bob is survived by his wife Frankie; daughters Jill Oldham and Barbara Walters; son Guy Peterson; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008 at Lakeview United Methodist Church with interment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
