A military service was held on Tues., Oct. 9, 2018, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona for Robert (Bob) L. Kortright of Sun City, who passed away Aug. 25, 2018, at the age of 95. Bob was born in Salem, Oregon Nov. 19, 1922, to Robert and Gertrude (Wise) Kortright. Brought up in the New Jersey and New York area, Bob attended Cornell University for 3 years before entered the Army Air Corp during WWII where he served in Guam. After the service he worked with his brother in law and then went on to United Fruit Co. where he traveled the country first in sales then sales management. After a time in France with the company he returned to the US and moved to the Minneapolis St. Paul area where he worked as a sales manager for Land O Lakes. After his retirement he moved to Phoenix and became a realtor, first in Phoenix and then moving to Sun City. Bob was an avid golfer and had carded two holes in one while in his 70’s and 80’s. He served many years on the Home Owners board and was a great supporter of Sun City volunteerism. He was a member of the American Legion and in his last few years was involved and supported the essential tremor group, something he suffered from. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years Irene (Shumanski), sons Robert (Terry) and David (Josefa) Kortright of Goodyear, AZ and step-son Marc (Linda) Oddo of Glendale, grandchildren Todd Kortright and Kim Kortright Sears and 5 great-grandchildren.
