Armer, Robert Franklin On September 20, 2009 surrounded by family our father Robert Franklin Armer joined our mother in Heaven. Robert was born on November 29, 1935 in Compton, Arkansas to Gladys and Noah Armer. Robert served in the Navy from 1955-1963 earning two Good Conduct medals. He served on the USS Princeton from 1955-1959 as a Stationary Engineer and then of the USS Independence as a Gas-Compressor Operator from 1959-1963. For awhile he worked at General Mills where he co-invented Bugles brand chips and also was the first to suggest adding vitamins to breakfast cereal. He then worked for Air Liquide for 26 years as a Cryogenics Plant Engineer. Robert married his wife of 54 years in 1969. Together they raised 6 children. Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Janice Armer and both of his parents. He is survived by his children Heber Heidi, Boyd Sally, Darryl Tina, Randy Dawn, & Larry Carmen Armer and Darla Joe Fields; 4 sisters Mary Ann Bagby, Jetty Tom Baker, Carolyn David Sittner, Darlene Terry Jones; 2 brothers Jarvis & Michael Cindy Armer. Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
