Richard Babcock

December 31, 1969 — February 5, 2013

86, of Mesa, AZ (formerly of Sun City) passed away February 1, 2013. Mr. Babcock was born in Alameda, California and was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WW II. He participated in the first Pan American games in 1951 that were held in Argentina, playing for the US basketball team and winning a gold medal. Mr. Babcock worked as a sales representative for Placer Title Company in California retiring to Sun City in 1994. Survivors include his daughter Christina Van Male (Chris); grandchildren Curtis Van Male (Patty), Shannon Sanchez (Ruben), Michael Van Male (Natasha) and Seth Van Male (Amy). 8 great grandchildren also survive. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona.
