Raymond Waechter

Raymond Mathias Waechter, 90, passed away peacefully April 11, 2012. He was born February 27, 1922 in Olpe, KS and was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cleta L. (Julian) Waechter and his four children, Vera Lyons of Sun City, AZ, Debbie Taegel of Phoenix, AZ, Ava Ellis of Franklin, TN and Jeff Waechter of Augusta, GA as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Ray was a longtime resident and business owner in Liberty, MO and relocated to Sun City in 2002. He was an avid golfer and played with a group from Ventana Lakes. Ray served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bremerton and the USS Fulton during WWII. He was proud to be a veteran. He was a 60 year member of the Knights of Columbus. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Lena Waechter and nine brothers and sisters. The family requests donations in Ray’s memory be made to Catholic Charities. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April, 15, 2012 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 Palmeras Dr., Sun City, AZ. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
