Ray, 79, of Sun City passed away after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia on May 28, 2016.He was born on December 19, 1936 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Harry and Doris Dusenberry. Ray is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sue; sons Kelly (Kathy), Tony (Donna), and Daughter Suzanne (Mark) Nisely. He has 6 grandchildren: Aaron, Danielle, Shawn, Bryan (Thao), Lauren (Matt) Kreider and Kelsey (Brad) Starck. Out of high school he enlisted in the Navy like his favorite Uncle Elwood Russell. After his service, he drove a school bus, worked at other jobs, and worked at Maytag in Iowa. He moved to Arizona and Ray worked at the Phoenix Union High School District for 32 years starting as a night custodian/irrigation man at South Mountain High to being Night Lead Maintenance at Carl Hayden High and lastly, a Maintenance Foreman at Bostrom High School doing every job, with pleasure, that a teacher could ask of him. After retirement, he bought a small acreage place in Lewis, CO to keep his horse, Fancy and ended up with 2 horses, chickens, roosters, cats and goats. He worked as a work-camper At Big Lake, AZ, the Dolores Forest Service at the West Dolores campground and at Alpen Rose RV Park in Durango . He then moved and lived for 13 years in Pleasant View, CO before returning to Sun City. His true enjoyment came when he was on his CB radio, riding a Harley, fishing, camping and sharing his life with many dogs, horses, and cats. Services to be held at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ on Tuesday June 7 at 8:30-9:30. Interment with military honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona. In lieu of Flowers, a donation can be made to any “No Kill” Animal Shelter of your choosing.
