Ralph VanZwol

Ralph William “Bill” VanZwol Jr. peacefully passed away on January 14, 2020. Bill was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa on July 29,1930. Unbeknownst to him, his lifelong love, Aletha Bevier, was born the very next day about 11 miles away in Vincent, Iowa. Bill and Aletha started dating at age 15. They spent the next 74 years together. They married in 1952. Three children followed. Bill III in 1953, and the twins Sally and Sandy in 1956. In 1957, by the grace of God, Bill joined Alcoholics Anonymous and remained sober for the rest of his life. The family moved to Phoenix in 1960 and made it their lifelong home. Bill worked as a teamster and a warehouse manager. A lifelong love of driving trucks made him happy. After retiring, bill and Aletha stayed active. They often traveled in search of the genealogy of their ancestors. They also traveled to Iowa to visit family and friends and visit the Bevier family farm. Bill is preceded in death by his great-grandson Cameron Brunke. Bill is survived by his wife Aletha Bevier, three children; Bill, Sandy and Sally, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
