Phyllis E. Tomm passed away at her home in Sun City, AZ on June 13, 2013 at the age of 85. She was born on Dec. 4, 1927 in Racine, WI to the late Alexander and Elles (nee: Madsen) Laehr. She was united in marriage to Harold Tomm on May 14, 1949. They moved to Arizona in 1982 and operated a small business together. Harold preceded her in death in 2004. Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Susan Cotner of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Kevin (JoAnn) Tomm of Waukesha, WI, and Brian (Jodi) Tomm of North Mankato, MN; nine grandchildren, Craig (Lisa) Cotner of Aurora, IL, Kyle and Kurt Cotner of Phoenix, AZ, Claire Tomm (Greg Machotka) of Madison, WI, Ryan and Stefan Tomm of Hawaii, Kelsi, Matthew and Nicole Tomm of North Mankato, MN and her great-granddaughter, Aubrey Cotner. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her brothers Carl (Beverly) Laehr and Everett (Irene) Laehr. Phyllis worked as a secretary in the years before and after raising her family. She enjoyed golf which she continued up until her last year. She was active in her churches from teaching Sunday School, to leading Bible studies, to baking and serving with her circles. She shared and enjoyed the company of her dear friends in social and card clubs throughout her life, adding new friends in Arizona while maintaining friendships that began in grade school in Wisconsin. She showed her love and devotion to her family and friends by always going above and beyond to prepare beautiful and delicious meals when entertaining. Memorial services will be held at American Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd. Sun City, AZ on October 26th, at 11 am with a lunch following. Memorial donations may be made to American Lutheran Church.
