Paul William DeBeer, age 88 of Sun City, Arizona, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 25, 2021. He was born January 29, 1932, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Paul was preceded in death by his son, David Paul DeBeer and his daughter, Jane Kathleen DeBeer, his sister Ruth Stricker Dayton and his parents Rev. Peter and Eleanor DeBeer. He is survived by his wife Kathleen and daughter, Karen (Lance) Dunn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Paul was a cherished grandfather of Alyssa (Jake) Aronson of Iron Mountain, Michigan, and Kyle (Emily) Dunn of North Liberty, Iowa and great grandfather of Emma Jane Aronson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Paul graduated from Windom, Minnesota High School (1950) and Macalester College (1954). He received his Master of Divinity degree (1957) and Doctor of Divinity degree (1980) from San Francisco Theological Seminary. He received a Master of Science in Community Mental Health (1972) from Northern Illinois University. Paul and Kathleen were married in Bloomington, Minnesota (1955). Paul pastored churches in Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and Ohio. Paul and Kathleen retired in Sun City, Arizona (1991). Paul was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity and social justice concerns. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, reading and time with family and friends. He was a caring listener. Memorials may be directed to the Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank, a faith-based Non-Profit Organization that provides for people who are hungry and in need. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
