Patrice Anne Stolz was born Patricia Ann Patton in Baltimore County, Maryland to Helen Marie Grondin and James Patton. She grew up in Maryland, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Washington D.C. She was married to Joseph Leo Betthauser, who was a senior engineer on the Apollo program. She was the widow of Bernard Paul Stolz, a decorated firefighter.
Patrice was a devout Catholic and is survived by her three children – Joseph Leo Betthauser Jr., Janice Irene Betthauser (Harmon), and Jon Cal Betthauser. She was blessed with two grandchildren – Joseph Leo Betthauser III and Thomas Jordan Betthauser, who are thriving in North Carolina and California, respectively. Thomas and his wife Erin Kaczkowski are the proud parents of Patrice’s great grandson Daniel Paul Betthauser. Patrice was the loving sister to Susan Jane Bridges, and was very close to Susan’s children Kevin Keith Donnellan and Scott Sedgwick Donnellan, who both reside in California.
Patrice worked most of her career as an executive secretary, starting with the Navy Department in Washington D.C., and retiring after working at Luke Air Force Base for the Wing Commanders. She moved to Sun City in 1984 and loved it. One of her great pleasures was visiting the wild landscape of the White Tank Mountains. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for many years and a regular supporter of the Brophy College Preparatory school in Phoenix.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of St. Joachim and St. Anne on January 5th at 10:00 AM, 10625 N. 111th Avenue, Sun City, Arizona, 85351.
