Norman “Norm” A. Dixon Norm Dixon, age 78, of Peoria, AZ was called home to the Lord on June 25, 2010. Born in Muskegon, MI, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War, where he received a battle wound. Awarded a Purple Heart, he was discharged and returned home. He enjoyed a long career as an engineer in the aerospace industry. He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the 24th Infantry Division Association. He was active in his church, and enjoyed a number of hobbies. His love of the desert southwest was a passion. His family, however, always remained his highest priority. He is survived by his wife Dolores “Dodie” Dixon of Peoria, daughters Peggy VandeVoorde (of Milan, MI), Pamela Miller (of Munday, TX), Penny Schmiege (of Avondale, AZ), Patience Hoag (of Phoenix), and son John Dixon, also of Phoenix; as well as fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. in Sun City, AZ on Monday, June 28, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will also be conducted at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service with full military honors at National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ. The family suggests that any memorials be sent to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #2135 (623)937-6196 in Norman Dixon’s memory.
