Nicholas Schmitz

Nicholas, age 42, was taken from us unexpectedly on May 25th, 2021. Nicholas was born on Dec 9, 1978 to Jeff and Diana Schmitz in Galesburg, Il. Nicholas graduated from Deer Valley High School Glendale, AZ in 1997. As a young child he discovered a passion for sports. He played all sports, baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and flag football. He also enjoyed watching all sports and enjoyed participating in fantasy football. Being born in Illinois, he was a lifelong, die hard, Bears and Cubs fan. Nicholas was employed most of his adult life in the gaming industry. He began his career at Bucky’s Casino in Prescott, AZ where he stayed for 16 years. In 2020, Nicholas took a Job with Desert Diamond Casino in Glendale, AZ. He loved the casino industry and he loved all the people he worked with. Nicholas had a huge heart, was selfless, kind, and generous. We will always carry his memories in our hearts. Nicholas was survived by his parents, Jeff and Diana Schmitz, Peoria AZ; brother, Zachary Schmitz (Trisha) nieces and nephew Sophie and Hudson Schmitz, Shoreline, WA; Sarah Schmitz, friend; and Angelo, Virgina, and Justin Haak, step children, Prescott Valley AZ. Nicholas was also survived by step brothers Jeff Schmitz, Oceanside CA and James Schmitz Davenport, IA. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Leo Schmitz, East Moline, Il; Albert Hancq, Moline, Il; and Miriam Pysson , Sun City AZ.
