Eulogy by Constance Combs ̶ Honoring our mother Just a slip of a girl All legs and some mischief, With a few lads she twirled – A husband she was seeking. Sixty-five years with one spouse Six children in nine years She reared, worked, made a house Sparse means, blood, sweat and tears. Nine grands, nine greats, three great-greats Nana’s camera ever ready Teacher, steno – church bulletins made Keeping the family’s bank steady. Survived spouse, sons, one grandchild Never crediting herself much We bear witness to triumph over trials A legacy few leave as such. To Mama and Nana with love, ̶ four daughters, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren The family will gather for a private memorial service at a time to be determined.
