Nelda Marie Born, age 68, died peacefully on April 11, 2016 after a valiant struggle with C.O.P.D. Nelda was born June 6th, 1947 in the San Diego, California Navy hospital, the daughter of Carl Wallace Gamble, and Shirley Mae Hughes. Nelda thoroughly enjoyed reading, shopping, word search, gambling, camping, dancing, and spending time with her family. She loved going on cruises with her husband, family, and friends. She possessed a natural talent for cosmetology and attended Painters Beauty College in Ogden, Utah. In 1966 Nelda gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Karma Lee that she cherished. In 1968 Nelda met the love of her life Dave Born and along with his three little children Lorie, Shellie, and Blake they, with Karma, became a blended family. They married on September 2, 1971 and from the moment they met they rarely spent time away from each other working side by side every single day. Nelda and Dave together started an Optical business in Ogden, Utah in 1977 which they operated for over 20 years. In addition to raising their four children she also worked for a publishing company where she played on the women’s softball team. She and Dave also bowled on several leagues that Nelda thoroughly enjoyed. Nelda is survived by her husband Dave Born; her daughters Lorie (John) Batten of Phoenix, AZ, Shellie (Tim) Parker of Sandy, UT, Karma Area of Phoenix, AZ, and her son Blake (Teresa) Born of Ogden, Utah; two nieces; one nephew; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a few other relatives and close friends. Nelda was preceded in death by her father Carl, mother Shirley, and brother Delbert Gamble. Services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center at 12420 N 103rd Avenue, Sun City, AZ at 10:00 a.m.
