Neil DuFresne, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2018, in Peoria, Arizona. He was born in Somerset, Wisconsin, June 5, 1934, to Oliver and Edwidge DuFresne. He was the sixth child of eleven children. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Joanne, and two stepsons, Scott (Linda) Tweten and Doug (Ginger) Tweten, and seven grandchildren: Chase, Cody, Kayla, Gunnar, Christopher, Victoria, and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Keith, Dean, Brian) one sister (Ramona Kaiser) and three brothers-in-law; Tony Kaiser, Timothy Mangan, and Gary Hartmon. He is survived by sister Iris (Jack) Kadrie, sister-in-law Joyce DuFresne, sister Barbara Mangan, sister Vonnie Rae (Bud) Payette, sister-in-law Catherine DuFresne, sister Kathleen (Paul) Hartmon-Lehner, sister Sandra DuFresne, sister Susan (Jonathan Cates) Parnell and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Neil moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1945, where he lived until he relocated to Arizona in 1979. He was self-employed during his working years. Among his enterprises, he owned his own moving company and he and his wife enjoyed long-haul driving across the country. Neil retired from driving in 1981 and enjoyed spending his time volunteering at his parish, visiting shut-ins with the Legion of Mary, serving as a Eucharistic minister, and enjoying time with family. He was a member at Saint Joachim and Saint Anne Catholic Church. He was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his family. Neil was dearly loved and will be missed.
Arrangements will be handled by Menke Funeral & Cremation Center. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. Joachim & St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City, AZ. His final resting place will be in Fort Snelling Memorial Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
