Nathan John Jingst, 84, of Surprise, AZ and Ft. Collins, CO., died at 8:00 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 6, 2012 in Surprise, AZ. Nathan was born on 3-7-27, in Keokuk, IA, the first son of Paul and Amelia Jingst of Warsaw, IL. Surviving family members include his wife Janet; his children Stephen Jingst, Diane Pierce and Wayne Jingst; his grandchildren Sara Jingst, Emily Jingst, Rachel Jingst, Chris Pierce and David Pierce; and his brother Calvin Jingst. Nathan served during World War II in the Army Tank Corps, reaching the rank of Sergeant, and graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Nathan married Janet Louise DeYong on 8-21-49. He worked 27 years as an Engineer for John Deere & Co. in Moline, IL, retiring in 1982, and then for 7 years at the Rock Island Arsenal. Nathan was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge, the American Legion, Kiwanis, the Kaaba Shriners, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Throughout his life, Nathan loved to travel, taking his family on many great summer vacations. Later in life, he enjoyed his retirement in Ft. Collins and Surprise. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2012 at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church, 9502 W. Hutton Dr., Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Doric Masonic Lodge in Moline, IL or St. Peters’s Anglican Church, 1051 Wild Cherry Ln., Ft. Collins, CO 80521.
