Nancy Dixon was born in Marshfield Wisconsin, December 19th, 1935, the youngest of 7 to Hazel and Leo Nikolai. She started working early in life, on the family’s dairy farm. She met a handsome sailor, Loren C Dixon, and married him soon after they met, on December 1st, 1956. She became a good soldier herself after that, dealing with being a Navy wife, being transferred many times and having four children between 1957 and 1965. Another chapter in her life began when Loren retired from the Navy and moved the family to Indiana. Nancy and Loren settled in Richmond, Indiana in 1968, and raised the children. She was very involved in her children’s lives, and attended sporting events, choir concerts, and school activities to support them. Nancy worked at Reid Memorial Hospital until their decision to retire and move to Phoenix in 1985, The newly retired Nancy became an entrepreneur and started her own business, Dixon’s Marketing & Research. The company was an amazing success for over 10 years, before she finally retired in the true meaning of the word in the late 90’s. She then started the last chapter of her life, being the main caretaker for Loren until July of last year. Nancy was very outgoing, a free spirit not afraid to voice her opinion. She was an avid bingo player, and enjoyed driving her golf cart around Sun City. She truly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Loren Dixon, and her brother Leo Nikolai Jr. Nancy is survived by her brothers, Thomas Nikolai, Donald Nikolai, Floyd Nikolai, sisters Mary Kirsch, and Pat Theis, her four children, Dennis, Debbie Farley, Don, and Dan, as well as 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by the newest children in her life, her beloved Jack Russells. Shane and Nicky. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. with funeral service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Interment to follow at 1:30 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
