Mildred Marie NicholsBorn 4/8/1917 – Died 2/4/2011 Mildred was born 4/8/17 to Leo and Regina (Nigg) Allen in Browns Valley, MN. She went quietly to the Lord on 2/4/11. She was raised on a Browns Valley farm. She graduated from Nursing School in Aberdeen SD with a BS in Nursing. She met and married her husband, Glendal Nichols who was in the Army, while working as an RN in Salinas, CA. Being a military wife just came naturally to Mildred. They traveled extensively while in the military and when they retired to AZ and Sun City, they really began to enjoy their retired life with more traveling, going somewhere different at least once or twice a year. They had a second home in Munds Park they used in the summers. They played golf. She was on several bowling leagues and in several bridge groups. She was a Minister of Hospitality for several years at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. She is predeceased by her husband Glendal Nichols, her sisters, Dorothy Allen and Marion Schow and her beloved granddaughter Cristen Nichols. She is survived by her children, Barbara Nichols Manning (Charles),of Sun City, AZ, Carroll Barr (Ronald), of Vancouver, WA. Richard Nichols (Dona),of Lemon Heights, CA, Gene Nichols (Vicki), of Sun City, AZ and Timothy Nichols, of Novato, CA, her grandchildren Justin, Marc, Brendon and Evan and great grandchildren Ethan and David. Additionally, she will be missed by all her nieces, nephews and cousins. A viewing will be on 2/15 from 4-7pm at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center and a funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church on 2/16/11 at 9am with internment at the National Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
