Mildred Hansen

Mildred E. Hansen 99, a 38 year resident of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully in her Peoria home March 16, 2014 with 2 daughters at her side. With her love of singing, she is now singing with The Heavenly Choir and smiling her beautiful smile. On May 31, 1914, Mildred was the first of 6 children born to Max and Nora Kayser in Freeport, MI. She grew up with a strong Faith in her Lord and Savior and was willing to lend a hand wherever she was needed and always with a smile. On December 31, 1954 she married Howard Hansen of Grand Rapids, Michigan bringing together a family of 7. After spending several harsh winters in Michigan, they moved to Sun City, AZ in 1971. While living in Sun City, Mildred spent 15 years volunteering for the Red Cross, retired from Citizens Utilities, sang with the Sun City Harmonettes, and sang with Church Choir of Fountain of Life Lutheran for 38 years while being the Choirs’ Librarian for 30 of those years, and treasurer of the Crafting Guild for the Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard of 53 years, a sister Arlene and a brother Walter, two sons William and Robert, a daughter Thelma Elaine, and one grandson Joe. Mildred is survived by a sister Beatrice Wollin of Sun City, two brothers Gerald (Maxine) of Caledonia, MI and Vernor also of Caledonia, two daughters Jerie (Ronald) Hadley of Hudsonville MI and Janet Maley of Sun City West AZ. Also surviving are five grandchildren Cindy Owen of Surprise, AZ, Brenda (Ronald) Stokes of Port St Lucie, FL, Phillip Coles of Charlotte, MI, Jeffrey Clark of Tamp, FL, Kristine(David) Wong of Ames, IA, and Jeffrey Clark (Dawn). Also surviving are several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014, 11:00 AM at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 15630 Del Webb Boulevard, Sun City, Arizona. Interment and Luncheon to follow.
