Michael Lynn Raftery, 73, brave, handsome with great sense of humor, died peacefully January 6, 2015 after nearly a year of suffering following throat surgery. He was heroic in his battle to rehabilitate his body, fight depression and hope for a full recovery. He was born on July 3, 1941 in Washington, D.C. to Joseph & Helen Raftery. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances, son William, grand-daughters Danielle & Brittnay, great-grandsons Dayton & Landon, sister Jo Ann, nephews Joel, John, Thomas, and Joseph. Michael worked for the National Rifle Association in Washington, D.C. for 23 years. After moving to Phoenix, Arizona he worked for Ping Golf Company for 18 years and after retirement he worked 6 years at the Daily News. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, son-in-law, father, pop-pop, favorite uncle and dearest friend to many throughout his life.
