Michael Childress

Michael was born in Pueblo CO, lived in the Phoenix area for more than 30 years. He worked as an Educator teaching math at Greenway High School, then was a guidance counselor for the last 18 years at Sunnyslope and Youngker High schools. His passions were students, coaching football and wrestling. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, family and friends. He is survived by his wife Shirl, mother Nancy Childress, uncles Richard and Jim Porter, sisters Debbie Harmonson and husband Chris, Wanda and husband Buddy Starkey, niece Jessica Starkey, nephew Justin Starkey, grandnieces Emma and Mila, step-mom Lois Childress, step-siblings Carolyn, Larry and David, step-daughters Lea Lindsey and Chele Radatti, 10 step-grandchildren and many more family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please support your local police, fire, veterans or high school sport. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. with funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018 at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City. Luncheon will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 12225 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City.
