May Sietsema Parr was born May 19, 1913 in Renville County, MN to Remmer and Tjeste Nederhoff Sietsema. She graduated from Renville High School in 1931, followed by a Business Course at Globe Business College in St. Paul, MN. Her business career extended over 35 years beginning in February 1932 at a legal office in St. Paul. Starting in May 1936, she was employed by an airline for over 15 years. During World War II, she served a tour on the American Red Cross Staff with assignments in Algiers North Africa and Italy. This was followed by employment with the Dept. of Defense for over 15 years with various assignments including Japan, France, Puerto Rico and the Washington D.C. area. On April 7, 1956, she married Jay C. Parr in Washington D.C. She retired in June 1970 when she and her husband moved to Phoenix, AZ and in 1972 to Sun City, AZ. Her volunteer work included many hours as Gray Lady with the American Red Cross chiefly in MN and later as a coordinator for Red Cross Blood Drives in Sun City, AZ, together with various other local organizations including her church. Mrs. Parr, a life long member of the Presbyterian Church, was a charter member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City, AZ, where she served as a Deacon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, her parents, 9 brothers and 6 sisters. She is survived by her many living nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law. Services were held 11:00 AM Dec, 6, 2007 at Faith Presbyterian Church and interment was at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Memorials can be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 N.
