Max Miller

Max was born on August 24, 1915 in North Manchester, Indiana, one of 3 sons to Ollie and Edna Miller. Max was in his last semester of Law School at Indiana University in early 1941 when he received his draft notice. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet program and was in the first class that graduated after Pearl Harbor. Immediately after graduation and being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, he married Catherine Sultzman of Elkhart, Indiana. They are survived by 2 children, Charlotte Barham of Woodbridge, VA, and Kenneth Miller (Brigadier General, USAF Retired) of Park City, UT. They also have 4 grandchildren, Keith Miller (Lt. Col. SC Air National Guard), Mrs. Deborah McGuire, Craig Miller (Lt. Col. USAF), and Cathy Doty, and 8 great grandchildren. During 28 years in the Army Air Corps and the USAF, Max was stationed in 8 states plus Germany, Africa and Thailand. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1969 and moved to Sun City, AZ with his wife, who died in 2001. A memorial service will be held at Menke Funeral & Cremation Center in Sun City, Arizona at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 with interment following immediately after at Sunland Memorial Park.
